Mezi Community Guidelines
Mezi is the floor between the ticket and the event — the space between scrolling and showing up. We're here so going out connects you to people, not just places.
That only works if Mezi stays a place where real people feel safe being themselves. These guidelines are how we keep it that way. They apply everywhere on Mezi: your profile, your bio, photos, Vibes, taps, matches, messages, friend tags, Duos, and how you treat people when you actually meet up.
Joining Mezi means agreeing to these guidelines. Break them and we may remove content, limit your account, or remove you from Mezi entirely. We'd much rather you read this once and never hear from us about it again.
The short version
Be a real person. Be decent. Keep the good energy.
Mezi is built on five things: it's for everyone (friendship or dating, you choose), it's event-based (real events, real people), it's verified and safe, it's made for L.A., and it runs on good energy — positive, welcoming, no drama. Everything below is just what those five things look like in practice.
Who can be here
You must be 18 or older to use Mezi. No exceptions. We verify age at signup and again with a selfie before you can enter the matching pool. If we find out someone is under 18, we remove them.
You must be a real person, as yourself. One account, your real face, your real life. No impersonating someone else, no pretending to be a brand or business, no running an account for someone who can't pass verification themselves.
What Mezi is for
Use Mezi to find your people — to make friends, to date, to discover what's happening in L.A., and to show up. Whether you're here for a friend match, a dating match, or just to see who's at the show you already bought tickets to, that's exactly what this is built for.
Keep your friend life and your dating life separate if you want. A friend match stays a friend match, a dating match stays a dating match — and you should treat people accordingly. Don't use a friend connection to push something romantic on someone who didn't sign up for it.
What's not allowed
These are the lines. Cross them and we act.
Harassment and bullying. No targeting people with insults, threats, intimidation, or repeated unwanted contact. If someone isn't interested, that's your answer — don't keep coming back. Blocked means blocked.
Hate speech. No attacking or demeaning people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other protected characteristic. No hate symbols. There's no edgy-joke exception for this.
Threats and violence. No threatening, encouraging, or glorifying violence against anyone — including yourself or others. We take threats seriously and may involve law enforcement when someone's safety is at risk.
Sexual content and solicitation. No nudity, sexually explicit photos, or pornographic content anywhere on Mezi. No using Mezi to solicit sex, sell sexual services, or pressure anyone into sexual conversation or content. Wanting to date is welcome; turning Mezi into something explicit is not.
Anything involving minors. Zero tolerance. We do not allow any content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits anyone under 18. Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement, as required by law. This is non-negotiable and there is no appeal.
Fake profiles and catfishing. No fake photos, stolen photos, made-up identities, bots, or pretending to be someone you're not. Verification exists for a reason — respect it.
Spam and scams. No mass messaging, advertising, promoting other products or services, phishing, money requests, crypto pitches, "investment opportunities," or any scheme designed to take advantage of people. If a message feels like a sales funnel, it doesn't belong here.
Doxxing and privacy violations. No sharing anyone's private information — home address, phone number, workplace, or anything else — without their consent. Don't screenshot and repost private conversations to embarrass or expose someone.
Illegal activity. No using Mezi to buy, sell, or coordinate anything illegal — drugs, weapons, stolen goods, trafficking, or otherwise.
Hateful, violent, or graphic media. No weapons displayed to intimidate, no gore, no content celebrating tragedy or harm.
Platform abuse. No trying to break, game, or exploit Mezi — including evading bans, creating multiple accounts, scraping data, or interfering with how the app works for other people.
Photos, bios, and Vibes
Your profile is a scrapbook, not a sales pitch — so make it yours. Long bios are welcome, prompts are optional, and the whole point is to show what you actually love.
A few rules keep it safe for everyone:
-
Real photos of you. Clearly show your face. No stolen, AI-generated, or heavily misleading images as your main photos.
-
Keep it clothed and non-explicit. Beach photos and concert fits are fine; nudity and sexual content are not.
-
No content that targets or endangers others. That includes anything hateful, threatening, or that exposes someone's private information.
-
Vibes are public and shareable. A Vibe can be forwarded off Mezi to TikTok or Instagram, so post with that in mind. Don't post other people in compromising or non-consensual ways.
Every photo, bio, caption, Vibe, and message is screened, and our team reviews anything that's reported.
Treat people well — online and in person
Mezi exists to get people off their phones and into the same room. That's a privilege, and it comes with responsibility.
-
Consent is the whole thing. "No," "not interested," or simply not replying all mean the same: stop.
-
Don't pressure anyone — for photos, for meeting up, for moving faster than they want, for anything.
-
Be who you said you were. Show up as the person on your profile.
-
Respect people's privacy controls. If someone chooses not to be visible at an event, that's their call. Don't try to work around it.
Meeting up safely
Most of Mezi happens in the real world, so a few habits matter:
-
Meet in a public place the first time.
-
Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting.
-
Trust your instincts — if something feels off, leave.
-
Don't share your home address until you genuinely trust someone.
-
Drive yourself or use your own transportation.
-
Keep your phone charged.
You'll find these plus more in the in-app Safety Center, along with crisis resources:
-
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988
-
RAINN (sexual assault) — 1-800-656-4673
-
National Domestic Violence Hotline — 1-800-799-7233
If you're ever in immediate danger, call 911.
Reporting, blocking, and muting
You don't have to put up with anyone who makes Mezi worse.
Report. There's a Report button on every profile, message, Vibe, and event. Tell us what happened — harassment, a fake profile, inappropriate content, spam, someone underage, or anything else. We'll confirm we received it, and reports are timestamped and reviewed by our team.
Block. Block from any profile or message thread. A blocked person can't see you, message you, or match with you — and they're never told they were blocked.
Mute. Want some distance without a full block? Mute hides someone's content while keeping things low-key.
Reporting someone is never visible to them, and we don't tolerate retaliation.
What happens when guidelines are broken
We review every report, and our goal is to act on reports within 24 hours. Depending on what happened, we may:
-
Take no action, if there's no violation
-
Send a warning
-
Remove the content
-
Suspend the account temporarily
-
Permanently ban the account
We weigh how serious the behavior is, whether it's a pattern, and the safety of everyone involved. Some violations — anything involving minors, credible threats, or serious safety risks — skip straight to a permanent ban.
A ban means you're not welcome back, including under a new account.
Appeals
We get it right most of the time, but not always. If you think we made a mistake, you can appeal. Reach us at contact@mezisocial.com and tell us what you think we got wrong. A real person will take another look.
Appeals don't apply to violations involving minors or credible threats to safety — those decisions are final.
A note from us
Mezi is small, new, and being built by people who actually go out in L.A. — who've left a show wishing they'd talked to someone in the crowd. We're not interested in being the internet's loudest, most chaotic corner. We're interested in good energy: positive, welcoming, no drama.
Help us keep it that way. Show up as yourself, treat people the way you'd want to be treated, and let's go find our people.
— The Mezi team
