Mezi Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026 · Supplements the Mezi Privacy Policy
This Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy supplements our Privacy Policy and applies to residents of Washington and Nevada, whose laws define “consumer health data” very broadly. It explains what information Mezi collects that may fall within those definitions, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have.
1. Our position, stated plainly
Mezi is not a health service. We don’t ask you for health information, we don’t provide health care or health products, and we never use your data to determine or infer your physical or mental health status.
That said, “consumer health data” is defined broadly enough in Washington and Nevada that some information we collect may fall within it — most notably the biometric data used for selfie verification, which Washington’s law expressly includes. Rather than take the position that none of this applies to us, we’ve set out below how we handle anything that could be considered consumer health data.
2. What we may collect that could be considered consumer health data
-
Biometric data — the facial-geometry template created during selfie verification. This is the clearest example, and it is described in full in our Biometric Data Notice.
-
Precise location — only if you grant location permission, and only to show you nearby events. We do not use location to determine whether you have visited any health care facility, and we do not geofence such locations.
-
Information you choose to share — for example, if you list your sexual orientation on a Dating profile, or mention something health-related in your bio, a Vibe, or a message. We don’t ask for this, and we don’t analyze it for health purposes; it’s simply content you chose to post.
3. How we use it
We use this information only to run the Service you asked us to run:
-
Verifying that you are a real, live person aged 18 or older (biometric data only);
-
Showing you events near you, if you’ve granted location permission;
-
Displaying the profile content you chose to share, according to your visibility settings; and
-
Keeping Mezi safe, including moderation and fraud prevention.
We do not use this information to infer anything about your health, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond providing and securing the Service.
4. Where it comes from
-
From you — your profile, Vibes, messages, and your verification selfie.
-
From your device — location, only with your permission.
-
From our verification provider — the result of your selfie verification check.
5. Who we share it with
We share this information only in these ways:
-
Other Mezi users — only the profile content you chose to make visible, according to your settings and per-event visibility controls.
-
Service providers under contract — our identity and age-verification provider, content-moderation providers, and cloud hosting provider, each of which may use the information only to perform services for us.
-
Legal and safety — where required by law, to respond to legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Mezi, our users, or the public.
-
A successor entity — in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Mezi is not part of any larger family of apps, so we do not share this information with affiliated services, and we do not serve third-party advertising.
6. We do not sell consumer health data
Mezi does not sell consumer health data, and we will not do so. Washington and Nevada law require a separate, signed authorization before any such sale, and we do not seek one.
7. Your rights
If you live in Washington or Nevada, you have the right to:
-
Confirm whether we collect, share, or sell your consumer health data.
-
Access the consumer health data we hold about you.
-
Know the list of third parties with whom we have shared it.
-
Withdraw consent to our collection or sharing of it.
-
Delete it. When you ask us to delete, we will delete it from our records and direct our service providers to do the same, subject to narrow legal exceptions.
We will not deny you the Service or charge you a different price for exercising these rights. Note that some features depend on this data — for example, withdrawing consent to biometric processing means we can’t complete selfie verification, which is required to enter the matching pool.
8. How to exercise your rights
Email contact@mezisocial.com with the subject line “Consumer Health Data Request,” and tell us what you’d like us to do. We’ll verify your identity before acting on the request. If we deny it, you may appeal by replying with “Consumer Health Data Appeal,” and we’ll have a person review it again.
